Wieżywce are a set of bookends designed to be a keepsake from your trip to the city of Żywiec, Poland. The name is a play on words "Żywiec" - the name of the city, and "wieża" meaning "tower".
Solali Paper Mill tower
Every bookend is based on one of the cities many historical towers. The idea stemed from the most recognizable one - Solali Paper Mill established back in 1833.
The old fire lookout tower
The work was done during a workshop with Żywiecka Fundacja Rozwoju (Zywiec Development Foundation). One of their missions is helping people in need to reintegrate into the community by allowing them to work simple trade jobs. Keepsakes were supposed to be easy to manufacture for those people. Hence plywood, paint and aluminium - all materials easy to work with.
